Just found this when transferring folders to an external hard drive

It is an extract from I think the MCN way back in the 80's of a member from here, fending off a 900ss Ducati with an over bored and stroked BSA A65 oil in frame with Bonny disc front end and road tyres. If I remember correctly it was also his daily commute. P.S he was also a top class passenger only fell out once but got back in and still managed take the race and lap record. :)

That's a blast from the past Sam. That was my 2nd ever race, on my daily transport like you said. The Ducati rider was Darryl Hinks and he was a bit naughty really for entering a classic race on his 900SS. I was a mile ahead of the rest but he pushed me into making a mistake and i highsided.
"Luckily the rider was unhurt". Eh, naw, the bike landed on my collar bone and broked it. If my memory serves, it did in fact smart a bit.

As for the sidecar passenging, well, we were a pretty good team i reckon :)

Remember that well with Darryl

I was a passengering around the same time

Who were you passengering? we did not start racing sidecar untill 1989 (Hopper Armstrong) but dove drove sidecar a while before that powered with an Imp engine.

Same place but opposite direction.

This time he managed to stay on........... :lol2:

Raced that day did both backward meetings
rubbed a large hole in my leathers hanging out all the time
out with the TR waterbus
will have to dig out a few old photos

Bill Davie was still racing last year, Alistar Lewis (same era) is now doing Classic Sidecar so is his son, I hear he is pretty fast. You should remember Murray Croy from that era as well he is coming down for a visit in a couple of weeks he has moved to Lewis.
