Big up... for the lads at Ducati Leeds. Reason: I was silly or brave enough to bottom out the 998s resulting in a very unwanted chamfer to the sump mesh oil filter cover....  The oil made a bid for freedom but was decent enough to make me aware of this by illuminating a red light..got it stopped safely, escorted home in a van (again). I began to scource a replacement cover only to find I have to order it(10 days till receipt) and it will be obscene amounts of ££££'s (for what it is). By this time it's getting towards 5pm Wed eve.I am well cheesed by this time as you can imagine!!:mmph:
Called DUCATI LEEDS at about closing time wed eve..I had the new part in my hand THURSDAY am, morning, before lunch n all that!...:D
Thanks again everyone at DUCATI LEEDS, how customer service should be.

   have one on me, cheers, Mick.

never heard of this on 998's heard of it on 999's though.

1, Glad you didn't go down from all that oil
2, Good work Charlie and the team for sorting a part out quick sharpish!

only when they have it in stock! still waiting for a speedo cable for a Monster..........you win some, you lose some.

exactly the same engine mate. 2002 998s uses identical motor as 2003 999

its now poppin out 139ish bhp......oooohhhh missus!!!..

My old 996R did exactly the same thing after I landed the front wheel cack handedly.

Watch out for them deep sumps!

Even better still-Fit the mesh filter and plate off a S4RS as its not as deep so
less likely to ground;)
