No mention of man made global warming when he filmed this 🤔 he got suckered in 🤷‍♂️

It’s like a classic episode of Yes Minister … except this is not made for laughs, TV fiction.

The National Energy System Operator (NESO) are owned by The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ)

Ed Miliband is the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero (appointed on 5 July 2024, when the Labour Party won a landslide election victory by securing 20% of the available votes)

Ed has overall responsibility for DESNZ.

DESNZ is one of 24 Ministerial Departments

DESNZ works with 17 agencies and government bodies … of which one is the public corporation … NESO.

Reminder: NESO are owned by DESNZ and therefore NESO reports to Ed.

On 5th November, NESO published its ‘independent’ report on how DESNZ can achieve its Clean Power goals by 2030.

About as ‘independent’ as a thing that is not very independent!

A sad attempt to prop up totally impractical and damaging ideological policy.

Maybe sense will prevail

A good day in Court.

This morning, the Dutch Court of Appeal overturned the 2021 ruling in the Climate Case.

In 2021 the District Court of The Hague ruled that Shell must reduce its worldwide aggregate net carbon emissions it reports across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by net 45% by the end of 2030. Today, the Court of Appeal overturned that ruling.

One of the arguments given by the Court is that Shell is already working to reduce its own emissions. Indeed, by the end of 2023, Shell had achieved more than 60% of its target to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions from its operations by 50% by 2030, compared with 2016.

In addition, the Court stated that an obligation for Shell to reduce scope 3 emissions (emissions from customers) would not be effective. If Shell would stop supplying customers, other companies would likely fill the gap. On balance, this would not result in any CO2 reduction.

The Court concluded that the earlier judgement does not stand, and rejected Milieudefensie’s claims.

Shell CEO Wael Sawan reacted: “We are pleased with the court’s decision, which we believe is the right one for the global energy transition, the Netherlands and our company.”

“Our target to become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050 remains at the heart of Shell’s strategy and is transforming our business. This includes continuing our work to halve emissions from our operations by 2030. We are making good progress in our strategy to deliver more value with less emissions.”

Or in its simplest of terms, the body milliband claims is providing him with independent information on climate change, milliband is the most senior person in that company.

For Mr Ed, a few lines from Megalomania, one of Sabbaff`s lesser known songs . Also suitable for the Archbishop of Canterbury :-

Obsessed with fantasy, possessed with my schemes
I mixed reality with pseudo-God dreams
The ghost of violence was something I’d seen
I sold my soul to be the human obscene
How could this poison be the dream of my soul?
How did my fantasies take complete control, yeah?

The whole song is worth listening to. Probably best played loud, in a darkened room whilst sipping whisky and smoking.

Remind me, apart from supporting the plant life that supports all animal life on the planet, what else does atmospheric CO2 do, globally speaking?

Why @Loz , that`s an easy one. It`s the evil that allows governments to lecture us, harass us and impoverish us.

Because the UK is supposedly responsible for 3%, of the 3% that is attibuted to human activity, of the 0.04% of the atmosphere - meanwhile China is flat out building coal fired stations. Got it, thanks.

It may be only 3% of 3% of .04% but who are we to disagree :-

Wow, that sounds pretty impactful.

Has there been a sudden shortage of it?
Quite the opposite, judging by the enormous resources dedicated to reducing the CO2 level from incredibly tiny to really incredibly tiny there must be more of it in the atmosphere than ever before in the whole history of everything.
Good thing nobody ever checks if the level of CO2 has been higher but simultaneously the temperature lower or if the temperature has ever been higher but simultaneously the level of CO2 lower. The honest answer to those questions might require a new tax collection strategy.

With higher temperatures comes the risk of increased sea levels.

I assume in that case that rich elites will be fleeing low-laying locations in droves.

If the rich elites were to do anything other than flee low laying locations there are 3 possible explanations as far as I can tell :-
Higher temperatures and sea levels are not coming their way.
Higher temperatures and sea levels are coming their way but they have the cash to be able to enjoy those lovely beachfront homes till they are submerged and still walk away into the sunset smelling of roses.
Higher sea levels and temperatures are coming their way but the have seen the conspiracy theory thread on here and are fucking with your head by not fleeing low lying locations in droves.

I believe all three of those are equally true (y)

Kinell, better pay more taxes quick, Saudi needs snow ploughs  :ROFLMAO:

Too many experts saying no no it’s nothing to do with flooding for it to be a coincidence

Easy, Now Welby has gone, God is sending snow to Saudi so Muslims can celebrate christmas too. Seemed a bit selfish to let just Christians to have snow, that's racist that is

Keir Starmer insisted Britain can show the way on climate change as he attended the the COP29 summit today - despite most world leaders staying away. The PM is one of the only premiers from the wealthiest nations in Azerbaijan for the annual gathering, although the Taliban has sent a representative.

The Taliban wouldn't have the Guinness, unfortunately 😞
