Good article but would queery the exact same bike at Mallory as the engine in question blew going over the start finish.
Steve probably had a cache of available power plants.
I remember one guy saying that walking into Sports he could not believe the number of round cases sitting on the floor.

Interesting. Incidentally, my road-going 800ss (suitably tweaked) delivers a real 81.3bhp at 8100rpm - at the rear wheel. I bet the performance is similar.
