Pretty high id say. I drink alot of beer. I dont drink soft drinks much at all and try to keep carbs low, although in the last few years ive been eating quite a bit of potatoes and pasta.
Never used to. I also have a sweet tooth, i dont do chocolate or sweets but b often makes cookies, pancakes and cakes. My favorite cake is a lemon drizel and i think in the cake and drizel there is a cup of white suger!!! Ive been known to smash half a cake in a day!!!!! She only makes that about once a month and ive told her to stop ( but hope she doesn't).
I dont eat ultra processed foods apart from the odd store bought curry sauce.
I do eat alot of fruit and start the day with a smoothie of banana, orange, greek yogurt and tumeric. Sometimes with apple ar berries. Maybe its the fruit..
Bananas and oranges are both high sugar and bananas are high carb. You're better off with berries, apples, pears. pomegranates and kiwi fruit - which are also higher in vit C than oranges.

Sugar and carbs also make your liver work harder and can lead to fatty liver disease, especially refined simple carbs like cakes and pastries. You should cut them out altogether if your liver is struggling already. White pasta isn't good either. Potatoes now and again in small doses are OK. In fact they're better for you than either brown rice or wholegrain pasta and contain a decent amount of vit C.

By the way, beetroot juice is extremely good for liver function and lowering blood pressure. You may not like it but you get used to it. A glass a day will help your liver.

Tried to find some the other week in our large Tesco's and they don't sell it 🤷‍♂️ beetroot shots would be good but nope 👀 ended up getting a mixed drink with beetroot as only one of the mix....

Ones I get here are beetroot with a plash of orange juice and turmeric it gives it a nice spicy flavour but still 90% beetroot but doesn't taste like garden soil 😆

I buy mine from the local big Tesco. They always have it, as do Morrisons. I guess it depends on your local store management and what they judge will sell. Grape Tree sell it but it's dearer.

Why not eat beetroots as opposed to the juice? Sometimes I feel the need to eat something that tastes like a mouthful of soil as you say but when I don`t there are a few flavoured varieties about or just pickled in vinegar. My favourites are horseradish or chilli. Horseradish in particular IMO is fantastic but I love the taste of horseradish on its own anyway.

My dad used to put pickled beetroot on everything...even lasagne

I guess you'd have to eat a lot of whole beetroot to get the same amount of nutrients that are in a glass of concentrated juice.
Personally I like both. I've always liked beetroot, boiled then peeled and eaten hot as I grew up with them fresh from the garden. Prefer that to pickled or shop-bought vac-packed cooked which are a bit limp and slimy. I also doubt that the commercial processing does much for the nutritional value.

Horseradish goes great with beetroot. I sometime add raw, peeled beetroot to oven roasted veggies, like potato wedges. It bakes in the flavour and they don't turn the rest of the veg red. Ideal with roast beef and horseradish.

You don't love the taste of horseradish. You just hate your life.

I can't stand any of them their problem is they don't taste like ribeye 😆 beetroot juice is one of the proven supplements to be proven in blood pressure reduction and general arterial health so I persevere with its taste

Are you really a secret Scotchman?
Probably a good percentage yea 👀😬 none of what you suggest I should eat has any particular nutritional value and I don't like the taste but then I have been looked at very strange at 6:30 in the morning eating a ribeye and scrambled egg .. I love my food which mostly needs no embellishments as far as I can see/taste

An observation from when I was at the hospital the other day; around lunchtime in A&E they asked people who had been there a while if they wanted a sandwich - they all said yes (I only went in at 11am and they started dealing with me in 5 mins so I didn’t get asked. I was asked in the SDEC unit later but said no thanks). I was in the A&E waiting room 4 times between having tests.

Also in the SDEC two portly women from the voluntary service came round with a trolley full of sugary shite for sale, and most people bought something; crisps, drinks, chocolate bars.

And there was a machine in there aswell full of crap.

Everyone knows all this stuff is the worst for people’s health, and yet someone decided that’s what will be offered to the sick. It’s basically validating the worst of the worst to people who need all the help they can get.

What chance is there?

It doesn't inspire much confidence when you have to go into hospital and find that most of the nurses seem to be wider than they are tall. If they can't look after their own health, what chance of taking care of someone else's?

My Mum was an SRN who trained at Guys Hospital. She became a matron and ward sister, when we still had those. She was very critical of today's overweight nurses, maintaining they were unfit to do the job and wouldn't be physically capable of the duties nurses had to carry out in her day. She was also baffled by the sight of nurses standing about at the nurse's station scrolling on their phones. She said on her ward if a nurse didn't have a patient to attend to she have given them a mop and a bucket and told them to clean something.

Not allowed to criticise overweight people or alcohol consumption, smokers / vapers though can fuck off out of the grounds and sit on a sharp spike while they have a smoke.
