Still on the hunt but times running out and prices of second hand cars are sky rocketing

Anyone on here own a Giulietta? It would be my 4th Alfa so I’m used to pre 1999 models 😂🤪

Not owned, but rented one on holiday in Italy - I really liked it; decent in the mountains; good on the autostrada; felt solid and well built. Couldn't figure out the satnav.

I've actually thought of getting one of the racy ones just for pottering - Harry Metcalf's son (Harry's Garage) has one and they love it.

I had one briefly a few years ago while my car was having its air suspension sorted out. It was cheap , local and made more sense than renting . It was ok to drive but no better than that, I wouldn`t really recommend one.

The Trouble had a 1 series a few years ago, a 2009 car. The fit, finish and quality was excellent but it was not pleasant to be in on anything other than the smoothest roads. Partly down to the run flat tyres fitted as standard I imagine.
More recently she had a 2013 X1 , while it was better was still as bumpy as a bumpy thing in Bumpsville even after getting rid of the run flats and fitting normal tyres.

Before you commit to one I`d make sure you get a good test on bad roads .

I had a 5 series on run flats - 'orrible things! Will get a test ride and probably not go for the stiffer M series suspension!

Although it will only be something to nip to the shops in ;)

Char, remember to add in the cost of two stroke too, they need to be run at 300:1 so 30 litres high octane to 100ml of 2T

It looks a lovely car, and at 3k a year, you won't be running it into the ground. The feckin' road tax is a joke as we subsidise those shit EVs, but think of the fun and insurance you'd have ;)
 
I agree, you could have a big American muscle car and do a few hundred miles a year and pay a fortune in tax. Or clock up tens of thousands of miles a year in a 1,600cc diesel Mini Clubman and pay just £20.00 pounds a year in tax.
It makes no sense whatsoever.
As it (the licence fee) is priced by emissions it should be put on fuel and not the vehicle.
