I did a stupid thing .

I noticed that my licence was due to expire in the near future , so instead of just letting it slide
I decided to renew it , ahead of the game ....... BIG mistake !

On attempting to follow it up , the website says that it may take 6 to 10 weeks , but I'm way beyond that now ,
and as for trying to phone ..... " Furget abaht it " , as the yanks say .

Has anyone else gone down the rabbit hole ?

Not just for a licence , but for any other vehicle documents .....
....... or is it simply because they hate me ....:)

Well as i am now living at my sisters i sent my V5s off for my Duacati's(insurance and all that) they came back quick smart'ish, but am still waiting for my License card, but if they are saying 6-10 weeks waiting then it should turn up soon, i can't remember how long ago i sent it off but i would say about six weeks ago at least, and i'm still waiting for my fucking TROPHY!!!!

I had a bad experience last year when trying to renew my licence (3 year medical licence)

It lapsed and managed to get in contact with them who told me not to worry as I could drive in the UK on a lapsed licence due the backlog. The trouble was that at the time I was planning to go to Italy. I was getting nowhere until I just sent them a mail saying I was going to lose my holiday because of them. Then they started to call me and managed to get me emergency appointments to sort my licence and it arrived a week before I was due to go.

I see the DVLA are refusing to go back to work at the moment, kicking and screaming with all the COVID buzz words Stop paying them, see how quickly they get back then 🤷‍♂️

I'm in a similar situation , regarding those times when you need to actually have the licence in your hand .

I'm going to need to rent a van soon and I reckon the rental firm will want to see it .
The local company I use are very helpful and friendly , but I'm fairly sure that when I rented from them
a few years ago , they really wanted to see the card ( along with a recent utility bill ..... or whatever )

Having said that , the nearest three Post Offices to me have all closed down in recent years ....
..... and even the main branch in the nearest town is inside another shop , and it's always jam packed .

There is a Post Office near to me and that is inside a Newsagents, before you enter make sure you take a chair(a fold up crap one) a flask of what ever drink you like and a packed lunch, it is always packed to fuck in there, i never go there if i can help it, luckily there is one near to me where i'm staying and it is 99% of the time in and out(y)

The closing of so many sub Post Offices is sad .
In small villages in isolated rural locations , the Post Office was often a social focus for the community
especially for older people .

I reckon some postmasters may have given up as a result of the shocking accounting scandal .
The Post Office installed their supa-dupa accounting software in every branch .
It was called "Horizon" ........ and it had more bugs in it than a doss-house mattress .

Many postmasters were faced with fraud charges , and had their lives turned upside down ,
through no fault of their own , and it took them years to clear their names !

A truly shameful episode .
 
Customer moved his private plate off his X5 to his new X5M (via interweb) on Tuesday, postman delivered the appropriate documents from DVLA yesterday!!!

And no decent apology was ever issued ...... I think the PO may have finally admitted to some " minor failings "
but it certainly wasn't headline news anywhere .

Anyway , back to the DVLA situation ..... I did some digging and found this list

just under a 4 days to replace my driving licence, application done on-line.... 2nd August, new one arrived yesterday.
 
I'm still fucking waiting for my License to come back, i should of done it online but i aint been thinking straght at the moment so had a senior moment, still no fucking trophy either!! :rolleyes:

I did give the right address, she wouldn't fucking know what it is, she will be to pissed to make sense of that, anyway you fucking bunch of cheeky Guinnesss!! :ROFLMAO:
 
.... so just to finish the story ..... and give credit where it's due ( ..... Ha ! )

It finally dropped through the letter box this morning .
They were able to rush that through in a mere 13 weeks .
It looks like a proper dog's breakfast as well .... the black-and-white photo is now a grey-and-less-grey photo .

I was thinking of sending it back ..... ( yeah , right ! )

I could honestly have knocked up a better looking effort in my shed !
The next agent of HM Gov plc that sees it is probably going to give me grief .....
.... I can just feel it in my water .

Edit: I've just found the post office reciept, dated: 11/06/2021, that's ten weeks today. :LOL:

Well that's a joyful day for you !

If you check their website [ where-the-f***-is-my-licence-you-b'stards.gov.uk ]
you will see that they only accept queries if more than 8 weeks have passed since posting
..... so be happy .... :)

I did actually complete the query form online about 10 days ago , but it's impossible to know
if it actually got things moving ..... my thinking is NOT .

BTW - I can probably dig out the official link later , if you want to try your luck ...;)

I'll just wait:ROFLMAO:, the fucking thing that pisses me off the most was i could have done it all online, i only wanted to change address, my head was not in a good place at the time, i fucked up, i now have to take my feckin passport everywhere when ID is needed.(y)
