I'm puzzled by the Daivel

I don't mind the look of a daivel I've only ever sat on one the feet forward always fucks with my head 🤷‍♂️

I got chatting to a bloke in a layby, i was on my Indian Springfield and he went past me then turned around and pulled in to see if i was ok, i was just tucking into a sandwich, he was on a Diavel and we got chatting about it and he absolutely loved it saying it is the best bike he's ever owned, i was actually looking at Diavel's before i got the Indian, the Indian won(Big mistake i lost a lot of money on that fucking thing!!)

We’re you doggin in the lay-by ? 🧐

I rode one when they came out, as a firend was going out on a demo 848 and the dealership invited me to go with him and that's what they had laying around.

I didn't expect to like it, but I found myself enjoying it. It's no sportsbike, but it does have presence.
Handling was capable enough, and for real world shits and glggles was more than up to the job. In the hands of a decent rider I can see it putting many race rep posers to shame as I once remember a snotter of a VMax doing at boxhill.

I think with flat bars or wide clip ons it would be pretty brutal, and like monsters and hypers it really needs some form of wind deflector on it, even if it's a really discreet headlamp mounted affair.

I like the fact that the numberplate is also the crud catcher and rear fender - something I think all single siders can benefit from to keep the undertail clean and tidy. I'm a fan of the swingarm mounted numberplate plate holder, and on something line this, or this side of a racetrack in fact, the extra unsprung mass isn't really a concern.

I've always seen it as the bike Harley should have built but didn't, and I do like it. I'd almost say it needs the Sportster Iron treatment.
I'd really like to see a builder who's used to the harley customs scene getting their hands on one fo these to see what they make of it.
Lots of matt and oily black and some industrial brutalism to take away those softened styling studio lines and I think it'll be on par with old oil cooled gsxr 1100's on the taking the sweets out of a kids hands sort of vibe.

In fact one of these with a 999 headlamp bucket up front would look pretty neat.

It does seem that the X series within the range and the forward feet Harley esque style has put a few people off. I wonder if their view would have been different had they tried the standard models with the foot controls in the standard positions?

feet forward flying V position isn't really that comfortable for any long stints, and it even pisses harley riders off, as this is the direction they've gone on some of their new stuff. Original Diavel peg position with lower bars would be just about right I reckons.

And the bugs and wind goes up your leather chaps
