Van Room - Starter thread

Well folks, here’s my new ride. Cheap and cheerful 2014 Transit Custom. Basic but has Bluetooth and iPod link.
Very clean. Under 130k miles. Got a reverse camera on order and sort the rusty wheels with some spray paint and lacquer and jobs a good one. Runs and drives well and very good mpg if the trip computer is to be believed (40+mpg on way home). I like the 2.2 Ford engine having done over 100k worry free miles in my old Ranger double cab pick up.

Great vans. I've just bought another.

A plumber I know has fitted (glued) glass on the outside of his works van and a few other bits to make it look like a camper van.
Parks in Slough and it appears to have them fooled at the moment.
It’s in slough they probably just presume it’s another airport hotel sprung up, if the said van pulls up at a customers house I wonder what goes through the customers mind 😂

Not tried but I did get 3 in a VW transporter years ago. It was a tight squeeze and the middle one went in backwards.
That's exactly how we've do it in the past.
The critical thing on Ducati is the ground clearance.... you need a really long "bowed" ramp.... not straight or it will ground out on the belly pane/exhaust down pipes..
A motorcycle Chock can make the whole job a solo affair, albeit a bit scary. It holds the bike while you dance around with the straps.

I remember having to lift the ramp with the bike on it at the critical point in the past. That's not a solo affair.

I’m thinking g about a small winch, I bought a lightweight bowed ramp but being short it’s a bit of a scary process and not easy alone, those that do it everyday make it look so easy...

Those that do it everyday aren't doing it to there own pride and joy.

I put the piggyback live feed for my camera on the feed in the rear light that goes to the reverse light as you do... but later the reverse light switch failed so I swapped the piggyback to the rear fog light instead, although I’ve now sorted the reverse switch i left the feed on the fog lights, I just pop the fog lights on when reversing but it’s also been very handy a couple of times when I was driving and wanted to see what was driving up my arse , popped the fog lights on and had a look.

Me neither - too young obvs 🤷‍♂️

Get a foldable long full size ramp, much safer, all the bike couriers have one.
