Had this about a month now - got to say it’s not a bad motor - feels massive to drive but rides nice on motorway. Sit 70/80 comfortably
Bit confused inside, near Rangerover seats and no carpets and more cameras than the BBC own !

Nice, I'll be having one in the next couple of years or so.

I've had Land Rover Discoverys for years now, but don't like the latest one(D5), it's load area is completely the wrong shape for me and it just doesn't look like a Land Rover.
The new Defender would appear a far better successor to my current 65 plate Discovery 4, but even then has a smaller load area, so I'm hoping the promised 130 will be out and available used by the time I want one.

I nearly brought a TDV8 new shape Range Rover last year because I don't like the latest Discovery, but would you believe the rear seats don't fold to a completely flat load area, so it would have been useless to me.

Be interested to hear how you get on with it longer term.

My D4, like my D3, is the best 4x4 I've ever had for flexibility, comfort, and all round adaptability, and tows my boat with ease.
I'm hoping the new Defender will carry on that lineage.

To be honest will probably only have it about 7-10,000 miles ( it’s a company car fiddle - provided it sells for more than I buy it for I pay no Co car tax. I buy it at cost to the dealership)

But so far I like it

I followed one home yesterday and apart from the funky lights, I thought from the back that it looked like ex wife number 1's old 1998 suzuki vitara jlx se estate

Said exactly the same when it got delivered 👍

Haven’t really had chance was going shooting over Christmas but cancelled so hasn’t really been out in the fields yet
Do tell when you do. Mrs EJ has Disco Sport that is more than adequate off road. Bet that is superb.

Welcome to come up he hill when we get the traps out for a few clays
I was trying to sneak in to Jerez a few month back as they were track daying I ended up at the back of the big hill opposite start finish ....anyway they were clay shooting in a very serious manner looked professional like you see on tv....no didn’t get in Jerez if I was 20 odd I’d climbed over stuff but I couldn’t cope with the embarrassment at my age.

Spain and Italy take it very seriously - although we do produce some of the best shots in in the world with clays from this country

Well I have found with all this rain one bloody annoying thing.
If you go through a flood or decent puddle it sprays straight over the windscreen. Funny but hit a decent puddle on a corner on back roads at 50mph and you can’t see a bloody thing.
Auto wipers are not that quick so you have time to nearly shit yourself or pray that your still on your own side of the road before they reveal where you are.

And 23 mpg is not massively impressive for a diesel

Other than that not a bad motor

My old jeep cherokee did that, not what you expect in an off roader 😳

Shame that the owners don’t get to drive it much, being a land rover it will spend more time in the workshop at the dealers then on the road with you, got a few friends who have high value, fairly new vehicles , they buy new ones every two years and still don’t manage to escape disaster after disaster, luckily they all have some other reliable vehicles in the stable too, just buy an nice X5 and you get to enjoy proper engineering!

Mrs got a brand new Disco Sport 4 years ago. Not great on aftersales service and electrics are poor.
Still a very nice car to drive and we plan to keep for at least another 6 years.
