Volkswagen looking at carving out Lamborghini and Ducati

FFS, VAG group trying to recoup losses from the emissions debacle, will prolly be bought by wankers merchant bankers via a hedge fund to make mucho profit and bonus, then both marques fail when they pull the plug! Gotta love capitalism! 😡

Theres still Aprillia 😁
There is that 😂
The new world order is creeping in to our lives at a rate of knots now. There will be no need for decent cars or motorbikes as we will all be assigned to being driven around in shit autonomous boxes on wheels.

There was an interesting article in superbike's october issue and the bit that caught my eye was at the very bottom

What shape is Ducati currently in?

A good one is the short answer. Ducati closed 2019 with 53,183 bikes sold which delivered a £49.6 million profit. Panigale and Multistrada models worked the hardest for Ducati, neither of which currently suit being powered by anything other than petrol.

Aside from sounding healthy, that profit is also up on 2018. COVID aside, Ducati as a business is a healthy one which allows it to hold its head up high within the VW group. Healthy profit also makes it attractive to prospective buyers. It’s going to be an interesting few months.

This worries me as I genuinely wonder just how many motorcycle companies are ready for electric, perhaps not during our motorcycling lifetime and how many models will survive the transition.

I find it a quite worrying prospect of electric bikes full stop the whole concept to me and am sure i am not alone but biking is the sounds the smells the whole experience is what makes it, and to the question of how many companies will go over to the dark side well i should imagine all of them will as in the usual suspects and of course the new companies that will jump on the bandwagon.

I remember being at the Sulby Straight on the Island the first year of the Zero race, 2009 I think.
It was the first night of Zero practice and we’d just watched John Mac etc. come past on the Superbikes.
The whole theatre of noise, smells and so on was incredible. Then the milk floats went past, everyone just laughed.
They will be fast and efficient but totally soulless and sterile. Bit like the future to be honest..

Like Japanese cars, great value for money and excellent at what they do, I love them - but they are cars, anything that is used for pleasure needs something else and the Italians know how to do that in both cars and bikes, electric motors are great at what they do, but they are all the same - soulless sums it up 🙄

I was having a discussion today with my son about Ducati and the development of the mark as in we now have the v4 Pani and the Pani and having to compare with 916 etc range and the difference between the two, i haven't ridden the pani range but i have read that they are a fantastic motorcycle but lacking something i can't comment but the 900ie and 996 i can't explain to people the experience the pomp and ceremony if you like that goes with it and if you could bottle it you would make a fortune something the Italians can do in spades, i don't drive but am a fan of Top Gear(Clarkson era) and he used to make the same statements about Lambo and Ferrari and Alfa they just have something you can't quite put your finger on i would call it soul (y) .

Saying it's not for sale usually confirms absolutely that it is 🤔😁

Cynical of many 'definitely not for sale' sales 😁
No means yes. The oldest trick in the book. They are only telling lies as they are frightened that the share prices will drop if they say its for sale. Zem germans ent silly

Tata will end Up buying it I reckon. Of course vag are gonna deny selling it as they are trying to increase their share price, if people know it’s for sale they will dump the shares as once it falls in to a third world countries hands it will be worth bugger all. Bit like the v4 😂

He gets special treats like invitations to the factory for tge international club meets ... and all sorts...

if bigs up his kudos... he got banned from the other side too....

Typical VAG smoke and mirrors.
They're probably at a stage where they need to attract investors for something coming up, so throwing the whole sell off thing out there they get an idea of perceived market worth vs what their babance sheet and marketing dept. share of voice statistics tell them.
Rinse... repeat... inflate share price and investor buy in accordingly.
