The A'nster GP!

An old favourite of mine.

Starting at Leven, Fife and returning via Lundin Links, Colinsburgh, Pittenweem, A'nster (Anstruther), Crail, St. Andrews, Leuchars, Cupar, Kennoway and Windygates.

This has got everything!

Great views, long straights, knee down corners, wheelie inducing crests.

Take it at a sedate pace and you'll notice the cracking views over the Forth estuary to (smelly) Edinburgh, the lovely "Old Manor" hotel, Scotlands Larder, Charleston golf course, Kilconquohar estate, the fishing towns of Pittenweem Antrsuther and Crail, and the home of golf in St.Andrews.

In Leuchars you can see the (and busiest during the Cold War years) RAF base, home of the "Fighting Cocks"

Onto the old farming town of Cupar before a run down the A916 (as documented already).

What an absolute belter - with the best chippy in the world at Anstruther thrown in too.

As run in the original "Haddock Batterer" trip of 2004.

Going anti clockwise, I did almost that route last year on my bike but carried on up to Tayport, Newport on Tay and along to Abernethy. You could cut over the hill to Strathmiglo and down through Falkland and then back to Leven. That little bit extra should give you a full day's fun. Or 2 laps if youre gunning it.

Know that bit very well too Davie - the bit from Tayport to Newburgh is a fine road, but not one you can ride spiritedly IMO - it's a bit narrow and there's too many blind corners.

Great views over they Tay up to Perth!

I think I know the road you are on about Scott. Its a B road. Does it go through Wormit? Ive been along that one too in my van and youre right it's narrow and twisty. I was meaning sticking to the A road routes to get there to Abernethy. Theres a few straights that way......and I mean straights with no cameras.

Can't remember now mate - sounds like a good excuse to remind myself though

Don't think it goes through Wormit, it follows the side of the Tay to Noewburgh perched into the hillside.

I have happy memories of trying (and failing) to keep up with Scotty on this road , he was on his 999R and I was on my 749R and there's no replacement for displacement and thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it
