Removing the catalytic convertor, worth it?

Which of course raises another consideration. Dealers/companies sometimes have a bad rep for refusing warranty work so best check if mods during the warranty period, are ok or will cancel your warranty claim. My own feeling is Skitz approach of play smart during the warranty period with officially approved changes, after that there are choices
That's how I intend to go with my Rocket 3. I want a decat unrestricted exhaust system and a custom remap with all the restrictions turned off. Triumph were originaly very cautious of opening up the performance too much with the 2500cc engine because it was a brand new design, tested on the bench but an unknown quantity in the real world, and they didn't want problems. It turns out it's much stronger than they'd planned for and can take a lot more power with no problems at all. TTS have about ten supercharged Rockets on the road producing 340 bhp with no engine mods other than those required to make the blower work and thus far they've all been rock solid.
Hence there's a good deal of potential to be uncorked. My warranty expires this year so I'm going to get some miles on it and if all is well when the warranty runs out, the fun will begin... Won't be fitting a supercharger though.. 👀

My multi has been done, sounds good but not too noisy and it runs really nicely. I believe it had the necessary tweaking done at the same time. My S2R in my avatar has also been done, initially just the end can but now the whole system, it sounds positively orgasmic imo although a little lumpier at low rpm now.
I should add that the cat installed on the saddle prevents the bike from even being sat on ,moved or started for up to 30 minutes at a time.

There must be some sort of noise limit for the fines imposed by noise cameras to be enforced.

A lot of it isn't the volume of sound produced but the way the bike is being ridden. You can ride a loud bike with due consideration and very few if any people are offended by it. Or you can ride a a less noisy bike like a twat and attract a lot of very black looks, even if you're not breaking the speed limit.

My Steetfighter is very loud (and it'll get louder when I put the full Termi race system on it..) so I try not to piss people off. I ride through town in a highish gear on a light throttle and lots of people look round at that rumbling noise, some taking a close look at the bike to see what it is. But I've never seen any hostility on anyone's face. Most seem to think it's cool. If I was in 1st gear and blipping the throttle needlessly I imagine expressions would change markedly.
I don't race up and down the same piece of road on a Sunday near people's houses (time and place and all that) and I try to avoid returning home on it late at night and disturbing my neighbours. Unfortunately many riders don't bother to consider other people and so ruin things for the rest of us.
There will be for type approval, but very hard to check on the road or in mot testing station, the cameras will be set to '11' in case of a challenge I'd guess 🤔

I just wonder how they can impose a fine for noise pollution unless there is a specific limit that it can be shown has been exceeded.

many of these regulations come in because the big manufactures have lobbied the EU Commission for them, because compliance makes life harder for smaller and non-EU competitors and it forces buyers to purchase own-brand approved accessories rather than independent after-market products.

I don’t believe that’s the situation with motor manufacturers at all, I believe it’s all driven by a continual lowering of permissible emissions which, of course, is a politically driven thing from politicians wishing to appease the voters.

My understanding is the manufacturer, in denying a warranty claim, would have to show the fault was a a result of the modification. eg, remove the cat, fit a race exhaust, engine valves melt due to it being too lean for too long, direct correlation, warranty claim denied. But, remove the cat etc, wheel bearings fail within 5000km, it’s a little difficult for them manufacture to claim it was as a result of the modification.

It's long been true of type approval, going back to the early '90's. Corporate manufacturers lobbied hard for TA regulations to protect their accessories catalogues from independent after-market competitors. They're still doing it now.
That's not to say you aren't right about political interference when it comes to emissions regulations. But the regulators, especially at EU level, and the corporate automotive industry work hand in glove in all sorts of other areas and they always have.

I pulled the cat off my S4R a long time ago to replace it with a Spark header and it already had titanium end cans. It is loud but once you get up to top speed you leave the sound behind.
I have no way of knowing if the ecu is std without paying someone so have never worried about it…
I havent blown it up yet!😁
