New tyre?

I'll be replacing the rear tyre on my Triumph in the next few weeks - the one that's on has been plugged and I've kept it on to see me into spring.

It's a Prielli Supercorsa 3. I got the bike in November so I've only known that tyre in cold, or cold and damp conditions. Given that, I find it pretty good and guess it'll be great in warmer conditions. Buy psycologically, the lack of meaningful tread from the shoulder to the edge makes me wary in the wet - not a bad thing I suppose. I've had the traction control cut in a few times even when I've been smooth with my inputs.

When I test rode a Superduke, the road went from cold but dry, to pissing down, and I remember it feeling planted through wet bends - it had Bridgestone S22 's

Now there's the S23 which Bridgestone say they have focused on water dispersion when cornering.

Couple of questions - firstly, does anyone have experience of the S23 (or S22), and secondly can you see any issue switching to Bridgestone rear and keeping the Pirelli front tyre (that's only done about 1200 miles)?

My old tyre guy used to say 'there's a lot of shite spoken about tyres'
Manufacturers will say not to mix front and rear as they design them to wirk in combination - or buy 2 every time, I call bullshit.
Never had Bridgestones but 14 year old Dunlops still stuck to the road like bald Pirellis 🤔🤣

S22s are sublime... 2500 kms out of a rear 👀

I can imagine the S series are super sticky, I've had T31's on the mutley and found them superb, sticky, good wet performance and good mileage, currently have BT23gt's on superb tyres, just bought a set of s/h T32's off a mate with only 500 miles on, we put his original scorps on to trade his 1260 in, so I got the T32's for a ton.

When i had Bridgestone BT-023S on the 900ie i can say the best tyres i've ever had, plenty of feel especialy in the warm weather, i was getting stupid levels of lean and as i don't have knee sliders i could of easily got the knee down. I also rode it in the wet and there was plenty of grip so all in all i would highly reccomend. I had got 9K on the rear and front tyres and i was due to put a new rear on it!! :)

I guess it all depends how/where we ride & what past experiences we have etc.
I didn’t like the Supercorsa on my Speedie & I got it in June, riding in some great weather.
I had some small rear slides which messed with my head a bit; no doubt pilot error but I whipped them off just in case.
My go to manufacturer is Michelin; just like the feel; so fitted Pilot Powers & they have been perfect.
I am considering replacing the rear with a Road 6 soon; the Power is past it’s best shape wise.
I’ve used Roads in all weathers & even trackdays.

I should add, my son has the SC on his Speedie & quite likes them.

I have used different tyres from the same manufacturer without issue so far, but haven’t mixed tyres from different manufacturers. I know guys who have & they were happy enough.

Looking at the tread profiles between the Pirelli, Bridgestone and Michelin, I think the Bridestone should work better if keeping the Pirelli front. Nothing to base that on other than the treads are more similar than the Michelin.

Metzeller are Pirelli if you want similar patterns - but you are looking to move away from Pirelli

I don't want to swap the front out as it's only done 1200 easy miles, but want something that is mostly sporty, but with a bit of tread on the shoulders just to give a bit more confidence on damp roads. I think I'll go with the Bridgestone.

But if I swap them both out, I'll consider Michelin aswell.

Maybe I should ask Perry
