I bought these Sebac shocks new on ebay for my Pantah as the original Marzocchi were in need of a rebuild but the kits are pretty much unobtainable now. Not bothered about originality so normal shocks will do fine.

Unfortunately when they arrived the dimensions were out so wouldn't fit in my frame.
They came in packaging marked Moto Laverda but no model marked on it.
Dimensions are 365mm length (eye to eye), 8mm dia eyelet (bolt dia) and width of eyelet is 28mm.

I need to sell them and source another pair for the Pantah so if anybody knows what model they're off it would be much appreciated.

Returning them is not possible as it's been over a year since i bought them and stupidly assumed they were a fit so just stuck them on a shelf till i recently started the rebuild in earnest.

I assume it's a smaller Laverda (maybe the 500) as Jotas are 12mm dia bolts.

Any ideas?
 
Funny, I had the same problem with my Pantah. The boxes of bits included a pair of new unused YSS shocks but when I came to fit them they were too long. They were about 360mm and should have been 310mm. I ended up buying a pair off eBay that had apparently come off a Kawasaki, obviously not an original fitment. They were in very good order, just needed a repaint and the bushes changed from 12mm to 10mm.
According to the YSS fitments page all of the 1000cc models have shocks at 360mm-365mm between centres but the bushes are all 12mm bore x 24mm wide.

I'm tempted to go for Maxton shocks. They are good quality, reasonably priced and most importantly tailored to suit your needs.
 
I registered on the Laverda owners forum and posted the shock dimensions. Got decent response but then got a private message from a chap from Aberdeen who it turns out was an old friend i lost touch with. He was a good mechanic who helped out at race meetings when i raced Lewis Ward's Redfern Commando in the 90's.

Well he is also a Laverda buff and identified the shocks as from an RGS.

Unbelievably he has one which needs new shocks and he is going to buy them from me.

You couldn't make it up !!!

Lewis was Jock’s original passenger. They started out racing a BSA big bore A65, then an Imp which they were Scottish champions on. When they sold that and bought a TZ750 they won the Scottish again and then went down south to make their mark. When they started doing gp’s Lewis left the team mid season as the travelling and work became impossible. He recently restored an ex Niall McKenzie carbon fibre Armstrong 350 . Cracking bike.

Oddly, a 1984 Laverda RGS is the only new bike I've ever owned and I'm sure mine came with Marzocchi shocks with a small reservoir.


Ah, found some old photos sadly, not of mine but some lust worthy machines at Cadwell Park with the higher spec SFC model sporting different shocks again!
