Exhaust ceramic coating vs exhaust wrap

No way would I ever put exhaust wrap on. It’s up there with buying a fecking gixxer and camo trousers in my book.
I had a few parts ceramic coated on my Indian by Zircotec, had a good chat with one of the guys there and they coat bits for Ducati, ferrari, lamborghini and F1 parts, great result and finish for the parts they did for me and would highly recommend. (y)

But why, there are beautiful welds in that exhaust, why hide them?

ps. I can see the air cooled twin, do you have the check shirt and beard pomade too?

pps. I have an air cooled twin too, and beard pomade but no exhaust wrap yet (or a gixxer or camo trousers) but don’t tell anyone and I won’t tell anyone if you admit to having the check shirt 🤣

Has the exhaust on my old SF coated by Zircotec in a anthracite
Looked lovely but that was 10 years ago so prob gone out of fashion now :)View attachment 126437
They do some great stuff there and a great team of staff that are more than willing to share info with you. The year i had my stuff done they had a big fire there and had to move office, it was in 2019. My parts where not effected by this and nobody was hurt in the fire thank god. (y)

You are correct, the welds are works of art. However, the wrapping is in an effort to protect my legs from burns & as they run close to the oil tank/battery tray both on the left hand side & underneath, (where the rear cylinders' exhaust crosses over to the left of the bike) I figured it would only help keep excess heat away. I will try & keep the two wrapped areas to a minimum though ! :)

There's no beard and/or check shirt on this rider !! ;)

Wear thicker leather trousers and /or reroute the exhaust. You can’t ruin that with exhaust tape.

I've never really had an issue with exhaust heat. I thought I would with the Rocket as all three headers from a 2.5 L engine are right next to your right leg because of the lay-out of the engine. But it's a non-issue. Best way to shed excess exhaust heat (if your bike has one) is to bin the cat.

I remeber when I bought my KTM 990 SMT. It was bog-standard when I bought it with twin under-seat cans with the cats inside them. The cans got hellish hot. I didn't dare risk attaching soft bags or a tail pack as I was sure they'd be melted. Once the engine was up to temp you couldn't bear your hands near the cans.
I fitted cat-less straight-throughs (Leo Vincis), got a remap and the bike ran so much cooler. I could ride all day and rest my hand on the cans afterwards.

A few years ago I went on a group ride on my 1290 SDR. I was convinced there was something wrong as it seemed to be running very hot. I was scrolling through the menu looking for the oil temp. Then I twigged the cause: I was wearing textiles instead of my usual leathers.
God made cows out of motorcycle trousers for a reason. Textiles are the devil's work.
