Ducati Belt change, valve shimming, electrical work

Firstly, having been a technician working with video and computer graphics for most of my working life, mostly in education but also a few years offshore, and with qualifications in Electronic and Electrical Engineering I am well able to sort out electrical problems on motorcycles.
I have been a motorcyclist since 1966 and have done ALL my own maintenance, servicing and repairs ever since, including major rebuilds and the total restoration of two BSA Gold Stars
I did my first Ducati valve shimming in 1975 on a 450 Desmo single and have since worked on bevel twins and belt 2V and 4V engines. I have software to access the ECU on Ducati models from 2001 (but perhaps not the latest ones) which can access and clear error codes, reset the TPS, test components and clear the Service indicator.
I can offer valve clearance adjustment, cambelt changes or complete servicing or fettling as required, for the financially challenged Ducati owner but as I currently have a full time job and very limited workshop space I can only do this by arrangement. In a couple of years I hope to have an early retirement from my employment which should allow me to take on motorcycle work on a more regular basis.
 
That's good info as I'm considering a monster s4r and was a little bit worried about belt changes (the cost at main dealers.....:eek:) and I'm glad I had a rummage through this section also good to know ur in Scotland :thumbs:

I've recently come to an arrangement with a local bike business allowing me to use his workshop facilities while he is quiet over the winter. I don't know if I'll have that access over the summer though.

If you weren't so far away I'd be delighted. My first Ducati was an 860GTS and I remember replacing the some of the LEDs in that little panel on the top yoke.

That's ok m8 as most of my maintenance is done in the winter months, also I know u can't always have control as to when the belts need to be changed if and when I get hold of my s4r if they haven't been changed then I'll be looking for them to be changed as soon as possible which would be early springtime, but that's all up in the air til I get hold of the bike.....:)
