Hi, everyone I’m restoring a 94 916 which was built at the cagiva factory, I’m after advice about the correct colour red as I’ve heard of Rosso , anniversary red and now cagiva red so a bit confused, I’d get the paint scanned but think it’s been painted over the years, any advice much appreciated

From the '94-'95 Parts manual.

Ducati Anniversary Red - PPG 487.111 *TBH, It's never changed through the years on 916, 996, 1098 et al

998s was all original when I bought it bar the very odd 998r tail unit it's a genuine Ducati corse part i still own but managed to find a genuine monoposto seat unit along with the appropriate aluminium subframe this was painted. .. the bike is unpainted... the 999s is completely original with no paint whatsoever.... I had the same hassle buying touch up paint for chip on the radiator shrouds and they ain't the same colour...quick edit im not doubting the information you found..I'd just be checking it before I painted anything decent

Just my tuppence worth, I heard somewhere that it was the colour of primer that changed between years which affected the top coat colour - may br bollocks, as I'm no painter but you'll see the primer colour when you rub it down

I am under the same belief too
Apparently they used what ever primer they could get hold of

Wouldn't surprise me as the base color definitely effects the top coats, especially on reds and yellows as they are very transparent.
