Tool chest, the ones I was looking at, ALL originate in the USA.I thought all snap on stuff was built in the states and they list thier production facilities in the U.S. ?
They also have many other brands they own and I wonder if any of those are operating with made in China kit? This shows the Snap on owned companies

As with all manufacture, the country isn't specific to the quality - the brand and manufacturing facilities are. I would imagine Snap-On are made to their specifications with a China internal copyright on the style. The same factory however will also make other styles and brands, likely from the same materials using the same bearings, just a different style.

Clearly some of the range is made in China and some elsewhere.

SGS have no stock at present and Halfords don't supply anything close to the size I want +50".
Both of which I would have considered a reasonable solution to my current requirements.
Bahco make great tools, however the images (not seen any in person, as I can't find anyone who has them IN STOCK) of the tool chest seem to indicate these are very similar to others lower down the food chain.

Plenty more on the www and imports.
This is an attempt to shorten any selection process others may go through.
Looking in order of price (possibly quality?) starting at the most expensive.
I've tried to identify traits on the chests / drawers etc that would lead one to believe they are of a similar quality or made from the same design specification.

- MAC or Snap-On (silly money for the connoisseur/snob or career mechanic)
- Beta or Facom (expensive really nice stuff, but limited range).
- US Pro - really good stuff
- Teng - unusual selection and also do a good price on complete tool kits with tools - useful for lottery winners or insurance replacement.
- Draper or Sealey (loads of differing quality and probably the biggest range here)
- Seville or Hilka
- Clarke, Britool, Faithful, Silverline, Faithfull, Bahco, SGS or Halfords
(loads of differing quality within these - I was surprised at the low quality of both Bahco and Britool tool chests)
You need to decide if you want the chest of tools
- to be mobile?
- With a work bench?
- Work bench material
- Overhead storage?
- Power (for charging or bench tools)?
- Finish or Colour?
- New or pre-loved, some real bargains out there especially if you also want/need tools.

I have a huge mixture of tool brands from Facom, Wera, Teng, Roebuck, Snap on, Halfords advanced and professional, and cheapy stuff from middle aisle.
Never really had a problem, most of the expensive branded tools came from when I was a shift techy. I have used snap on warranty thrice and Halfords twice. Have used Aldi warranty on tools twice all without fuss, well Halfords once but I caused a fuss in the shop and they conceded!
I am not a brand whore, if the tool is capable of the job!
